A LERWICK woman is urging others to “advocate for themselves” after spending a decade being told a painful gynaecological condition was “just heavy periods”, writes Chloe Irvine. Kira Spofforth, 26, was diagnosed with adenomyosis in January – a condition that can cause severe cramps, chronic pelvic pain, heavy or prolonged periods, and extreme fatigue.

Nordic Viola returns to Shetland alongside Faroese ensemble Aldubáran in a new project inspired by the 1860 journey of Orcadian Arctic explorer Dr. John Rae.

CAMPAIGNERS opposing the closure of the Scalloway Swimming Pool took to the streets of Lerwick this morning (Friday) in a “peaceful” march through town. Armed with banners, tambourines and maracas, a group of around 75 began their walk at Clickimin Leisure Complex – the base of pool operator Shetland Recreational Trust (SRT).
