I'm wondering if anyone else suddenly had an xt m8100 12 speed shifter not able to downshift. The 'paddle' just keeps moving instead of enacting the shift.

I'm reading that this is a design issue. I've seen 20 year old shifters just quit, but after <1000 miles, not usually.

Anyone have experience with this. I ordered an xt 8200 to replace it.

I keep getting whacked on my 401k with the shit market. After sitting out 1+years with all of my money in a "stable value fund" I decided to re-distribute and try to gain some ground (this was ~last fall). Then I got whacked (again) in the beginning of 2016. There's gotta be a better way than 401k or market (IRA etc.) bullshit.....what am I missing?

I was out here 7? years ago and rode some good stuff on Zen, Barrel, Bear Claw, Stucki, or so. I've also been to Gooseberry Mesa.

What's the good stuff to hit nowadays? I'll be there in mid april and also looking for a shop recommendation to rent. Thoughts?
