Parties' Vox Populi. The government coalition lost its majority in the Riigikogu, and so we have a minority government. In your opinion, is a minority government a viable government option in Estonia?

We spoke with political scientists and members of the Riigikogu who believe that this is just the beginning and that we will see greater movement between parties in the near future.

According to Statistics Estonia, the proportion of Estonians in the country’s population remained relatively stable between 2018 and 2026, while the number of Russians declined and the number of Ukrainians increased.

Meelis Kiili, a member of the Reform Party faction in the Riigikogu, announced on Monday his decision to leave the party and continue his work in parliament as a non-affiliated member, which caused the coalition to lose its majority in the Riigikogu.
