Online marketplace Fruugo made a profit of 1.4 million British pounds (1.64 million euros) in 2025. Just a year earlier, the company had made a loss of 10.1 million British pounds (11,8 million euros). As a result, the marketplace has expanded its services recently.

A year ago, German retail chain Bauhaus launched its online marketplace. Since then, it has partnered with 100 sellers. As a result, they have added almost 100,000 new items to the assortment. “The real work began after the products went live”, said Johannes Wechsler, Chief Digital Officer at the company.

After introducing a marketplace model in France, Zooplus has now also opened up its website to customers in Germany. The online pet retailer has pan-European platform ambitions, as its seller registration page makes clear: “Become our partner and unlock new markets across Europe!”

Second hand marketplace for media products Momox has expanded into the Netherlands. Dutch consumers can now sell their used books, CDs and DVDs on the platform. Momox is now active in six countries.
